March 30, 2026

Hello everyone…

I would like to express my thanks to our 2026 Roundup staff for all the effort made to bring our 2026 car show to everyone able to be there to join us.  Your immeasurable behind the scenes and show day dedication, allowed for a nearly seemless event.  Being blessed with outstanding Spring weather for our weekend activities, absolutely helped to make this one of our best shows in recent times.

Once again, our Saturday Sierra foothill tour proved to be a fantastic outing for everyone.  Due to a lesser amount of rainfall thus far this Spring, the grass was browning out and the wildflowers weren’t as abundant.  However, the route driven was very well planned, extremely scenic and was enjoyed by all.  A huge thank you to the staff at Bobby Salazar’s Mexican Restaurant for serving the 70 folks who enjoyed another great meal at the conclusion of the tour.

Thank you to all the Club members who were on hand to help with setting up and breaking down the show on Sunday.  We’ve gotten lots of very positive feedback from several attendees, who had little idea what all goes in to creating the car show experience for our patrons.  It’s because of your dedication, we are receiving these accolades.

The results of our charity raffle, benefitting the Central Valley Veterans, looks to be one of the most gratifying in our Club’s history.  Preliminary figures indicate we were able to raise just right at $2000 for this great organization.  It certainly goes without saying, these numbers would not be achieved without the generosity of the people who contributed by purchasing the tickets.  A particularly important thank you, goes to Joanie and Gwen, for once again coordinating the ticket sales operation.  Your continued dedication is so deeply appreciated.  I would be remiss if I didn’t include a word of thanks to the many merchants who so graciously donated the raffle items.  Each of them will receive a formal word of thanks within the next couple of weeks.

I would like to address the issue of not having any portable restrooms at this year's event.  Sunday’s lack of these very necessary facilities is beyond the control of VBAC.  The organizers of the Old Town Vintage Market, who also welcome us to hold our event in conjunction with theirs, is responsible for securing the necessary safety and support services for the event patrons.  It is unclear as to what actually occurred to create the lack of these facilities.  We will inquire and do our part to see that our patrons are not inconvenienced in the future.

I have an update to the Porta Potty issue.  And that is, the contractor that B.O.O.T. had expected to provide them for the event, didn’t show up as expected, apparently with no explanation.  Their staff is extremely unhappy, as one might imagine.

Again, thank you to everyone for another fantastic Clovis British Auto Roundup and we hope to see you all, the last weekend in March 2027.

Jon.

Greetings fellow VBACers!

As Spring 2026 is finally upon us, central California is being blessed with unbelievably wonderful weather, providing endless opportunities to get our cars out and hit the pavement.

With our annual Blossom Trail Run behind us, the Erin Go Bragh Rally has been resurrected for all to enjoy the spirit of St. Paddy’s Day. This event will take place on Saturday March 14th. Those interested in joining the Rally, should consult the website and/or contact Martin Connolly for additional information.

Also, our annual Clovis British Auto Roundup will be held the weekend of March 28th and 29th, on the streets of Old Town Clovis. Our two day event kicks off on Saturday morning, with a run through the Sierra Foothills, followed by a nice lunch at Bobby Salazar’s Mexican Restaurant, in Old Town. The Sunday Roundup car show will take place on Bullard Avenue, between Pollasky and Woodworth. The show will run from 9:00am - 3:00pm, with gates opening at 0730. Lastly, VBAC will continue to hold regular Club gatherings once a month, on the third weekend of each month.

Our planned April 19th event will be a picnic trip up to McKinley Grove. A listing of each month’s gathering information can be found in the Activities section of the website. That’s it for now! We look forward to seeing everyone out there on the road.

Jon.

VBAC 2025 - A Very Brief Year End Review With 2025 nearing its completion, your Valley British Auto Club prepares to close this latest chapter in our 34 Year History. The Club has seen membership remain relatively constant this year. Numbers continue hovering at just under 80, though one might nearly double that when including spouses and significant others. As a few members have elected not to renew, 8 new members who share a love for all these great British motor vehicles have joined us. This is great to see and hopefully this upswing will continue. Participating in several events throughout the year, our members have enjoyed all that comes with being a part of our great car club. Our monthly dinner meetings have taken us to several new restaurants throughout the year, as well as those which continue to draw us back… again and again. Our new members have discovered they don’t need to have a perfect show car to enjoy the camaraderie found from interacting with those who share the LBC kinship. I’m confident this will continue as more new members come into the Club. Notable events our folks enjoyed included: Our 2025 Clovis British Auto Roundup; the All-British Motoring Show, in Dixon; the Central Coast British Car Show, in Oxnard; the Ironstone Concours, in Murphys; the Scottish Gathering and Games, in Fresno; and (of course) our annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange gathering. These, coupled with the many runs and gatherings in between, made for a very fulfilling year of activities. Looking forward to 2026, VBAC will once again be holding our Clovis British Auto Roundup, on the streets of Old Town Clovis. This two day event will be held March 28th and 29th, with another fantastic Saturday foothill driving tour and the car show on Sunday. This rain or shine event will be limited to 90 cars. Those interested, may enter via Motorsportreg.com, or by downloading the entry form found on the VBAC website. A one of a kind commemorative t-shirt, depicting Clovis’ frontier town heritage, will surely be a 2026 crowd pleaser. To get yours, Enter Early! As I have said before, the continued success of VBAC can be attributed to the dedication of our entire membership. The contribution of ideas and the suggestions of options for overall group interaction, are always welcomed. Please feel free to contact any of the Board members, at any time, with those ideas and suggestions. Lastly, a huge bit of thanks to our VBAC Board members. Your continuing support and behind the scenes dedication to this Club is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.  Here’s to looking forward to a fantastic 2026!  Motor On…. Jon.

July 20, 2025 Another Year of VBAC Reflection Having taken on the VBAC presidency from my more than worthy, and sorely missed predecessor Warren, in July of 2023, it’s been a year now since my last message bringing you a Club update. The second half of 2024 and on into 2025, VBAC saw an incredible array of car show events and outings available to attend and enjoy. In July, VBAC members attended a cozy car show at Fresno’s California Armenian Home, where a wide variety of hotrods and muscle cars, American classics and our British iron were on display. It was such a great opportunity for residents to get out and enjoy all the cars and the fantastic food that was provided. August brought us the Clovis Hot August Daze car show and the Little Car Show, during Monterey Car Week. Our Steering Committee (VBAC Board) held its quarterly meeting and, amongst other things, established a Charitable Donations Committee. Its sole purpose is to consider additional charitable organizations which may be in need of support through a minimal monetary donation. As we rolled into September, our monthly dinner meeting took us back to our roots at the Roundtable Pizza, located at First and Bullard, in Fresno. 34 of our members joined in the festive 33 Year celebration event, at the (newly relocated) place where the Club first originated. A week later, VBAC members joined with a dozen local community groups to post 400 American flags at the California 9/11 Memorial, in Clovis. Later on in the month, a dozen VBAC members once again participated in Fresno’s Scottish Gathering & Games. Whisky tasting, all the festivities, and our British cars on display made for a great outing. A few folks also made it down to the CCBCC car show in Oxnard, as well as the Ironstone Concours de Elegance and the Reno British show, respectively. October provided a couple of fantastic car show opportunities, as members participated in Fresno’s Salute to Heroes event, as well as the MOASF All British Motor Show at the Blackhawk Museum, in Danville. The Holiday Season came and went rather quickly. Our December meeting at the Old Spaghetti Factory, in Fresno, provided everyone with a great gift exchange opportunity and a shot at a couple of randomly placed gift cards. Always take look under your chair when you’re anywhere around the VBAC bunch! Also, our Facebook page came back to life, as the wife of one of our Trustee’s graciously agreed to be the new page keeper. Keep up the great work Dawn! January brought us the typical bone chilling cold Central Valley weather. However, that didn’t discourage several members from joining in on the local Cars and Coffee events, brought to us by the local BMWCCA chapter. As we progressed into February, plans for our 2025 Clovis British Auto Roundup were in their final stages. Membership in VBAC had steadily increased throughout the year and we were now enjoying nearly 80 members. March dawned and we put the final touches on our Roundup plans. Another fantastic collection of charity raffle items were in place and all that was left, was to pray for sunny Clovis skies. As one would guess, the weather for our Saturday’s foothill drive was picture perfect. And, as anticipated, Sunday brought us the morning rain (though not all that much) we’d hoped would stay away. The 2025 rains were no where near as impressive as those of 2024. We enjoyed a great Roundup car show turnout, with 88 cars registered for an 80 car venue. While the weather discouraged a few, we still fielded one of the larger numbers in our show history, with a 50-50 turnout of members to non-members. Many thanks to ALL who came out and enjoyed the 2-day event with us. As a result of the success of our charity raffle, we were able to donate $1600 to the Central Valley Veterans organization. They still, put .94 of every dollar they receive, towards caring for the needs of our local Veterans. Throughout the year, a regular few of our members put together some great runs, encompassing the many roads interlacing the Sierra foothills. We were able to enjoy going up to the Tollhouse market for their great home cooked breakfasts and lunches, the Madera Autocross, Cars and Coffee, Ducey’s on Bass Lake and so many places in between. Every member is encouraged to participate and offer suggestions for outings, large or small, near or far. Bring your ideas forward at our monthly dinner gatherings, or contact any one of our Board members directly. We’re looking forward to bringing a few new outings to you, and to revisit many of your favorite locations in the coming months. Stay tuned in to our Website, and our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates to our calendar. Many thanks to ALL of our members AND to the VBAC Board for your continued, dedicated support of our Club. We are a blend of great folks who share in the love of owning and preserving these fine British automobiles. Together, we enjoyed another great year, while overcoming a bit of unforeseen tragedy along the way. In memory of our great friend, Peter Patriquin… Your passing came all too suddenly and unexpectedly. Your love of the Club, your friendship, your kindness, your selflessness, your input and your presence (and your love for great desserts) is terribly missed by everyone. You will live in our hearts and our memories, forever. May you Rest In Peace. All my best to you and yours as you Motor On… Jon.
