Charity Autocross Challenge at Visalia Airport – Sunday July 15, 2012
The Central California Chapter, BMW Car Club of America will be hosting an Autocross for the benefit of
Wish Upon A Star on Sunday July 15, 2012 at the Visalia Airport. Registration will begin at 8 AM and practice
runs will begin at 9 AM. Cars will be placed in run groups. Timed runs ( runs that count…) will begin after a lunch break.
The event will last until 3 PM. Entry fee is $30.
An autocross is a driving event timed ‘against the clock’ on a closed course with slalom-type curves and short straight
sections that test the drivers cornering skills. The event is open to all cars and drivers with valid driver’s licenses.
Although any street legal car may enter, certain rules will have to be followed. Seatbelts (factory are ok) and helmets
are required. There will be loaner helmets available. Cars will ‘checked out’ before they run. Convertibles will be
allowed subject to certain requirements, i.e. factory roll-over protection.
Wish Upon A Star is a non-profit, law enforcement effort designed to grant the wishes of children afflicted with high-risk
and life threatening illnesses. Their services are available to children throughout the state of California, ages 3
through 18 years. They have granted over 1800 wishes in their 26 years of service.
The Central California Chapter, BMW CCA is offering a challenge to all Law Enforcement personell to test their skills
on this course. The winner (top time of the day) will recieve a dinner for two at Visalia’s Vintage Press Restaurant.
Join us for this fun day in the sun and support this worthy cause.
