Community Step Up Event! British Cars on Display
The school I work at had a community outreach on Saturday, Feb. 11th.Through a program called CAST. The program is targeted to help improve self esteem, academics and non drug use. Throughout the program the students learn new life skills that they are able to use throughout their lives. Once they completed the program we signed them up for the Step Up Youth Challenge competition which they are suppose to work together and plan a community event that focuses on the needs of the community. There are 23 county Junior High school competing for up to $5000 in grant money for their school.
To help out and do my part I took my MGB GT and asked a few friends to bring their cars, Monica brought her TR7 Spider, Dan brought his 240Z and Loren brought his Opel. We set up in a small area and had our cars on display. The students loved them. They were their size. (This is a K – 8 school). There was a pretty good turnout considering some sprinkles and a constant threat of rain. We did let a lot of people sit in our cars, and had to clean off some sticky fingers but, it was for a good cause. Who knows we may have a few future classic sports car fans now. Thanks to my group for helping out our school.
