They came from Huntington Beach, South Lake Tahoe and Tehachapi. They came from Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto and all points in between.
They brought a Daimler, a rare factory painted red Delorean, a fine example of a Lola T70 as well as many Triumphs, Morris Minors, Austin Healeys, MGs,  Sunbeams, Jaguars, Mini Coopers and Jensen Healeys.
John Nikas brought his “Drive Away Cancer” Austin Healey which has become a rolling memorial for cancer victims and an inspiration for those fighting the disease. As the Healey travels across America thousands have inscribed the names of loved ones on the car to serve as a reminder of how personally cancer affects us all while others taped pictures to the dash hoping to give those lost to cancer one last ride on the open road.
They came because there was one thing waiting for everyone of them, and that was a whole lot of fun. Whether you came to drive in the Sierras, kick tires, enjoy the beautiful British automobiles, listen to classic British Invasion music, buy antiques, eat at the fine restaurants of “Old Town Clovis”, or get a laugh during the “Oil Spot Competition” awards, FUN was to be had in spades!
Special “kudos” to all the volunteers that helped put on the 2011 British Car Roundup and for making this the most fun and best show yet. If you didn’t make it this year, don’t loose out on all the fun next year. It will be on the last weekend in September, the 29th and 30th so mark it on your calendar today!
So who were our class winners of the British Car Roundup?
Cheers
Kurt Lanse
