2011 British Car Week

Logo for British Car Week

The annual celebration of British cars known as British Car Week will be celebrated this May 28th through June 5th.  The general public might think that the British car hobby has disappeared considering the lack of classic British steel on the roads these days. Our beloved British cars stay locked up in millions of garages for months on end which can sometimes make them a little cantankerous and hard to start.  But you know well the satisfaction of bringing your British monster back to life and heading down your street for a little top-down-wind-in-your-hair-sun-beating-down-on-your-head drive! British Car Week is a call to drive the streets of your town to remind the citizenry that British cars are alive and well.  Believe it or not there are those in your community that may have NEVER IN THEIR LIFE seen a car like yours.  Potential British car lovers are born every day and it doesn’t really matter if your particular car is in perfect shape or not to inspire the same lust you had for your particular British car love. Why not take a day or two during British car week to drive around town (May 28 to June 5, 2011) to remind yourself what a great car you have and see if people don’t fondly gaze on your car, wishing they had their old British car back again. Check out the British Car Week website at www.britishcarweek.org and you might find a group of like minded British car owners.

This September 25th you are invited to show off your British car at the Clovis British Car Roundup show so plan ahead to help make 2011 the biggest British Car Roundup ever!

British Car Club Run on the Blossom Trail

Look at all the photos here!

March 13th – On a beautiful spring morning, a few just as beautiful British cars, met up for a run through our valley. We had a filling breakfast at the “Red Caboose”, did some B. S.ing and were on our way. We are very fortunate to live in this agricultural paradise, where in early spring the blossoms are bursting on a variety of tree fruit. I have submitted some pictures (to the British Marque newspaper), but without color they are just not the same. Our club president Rick Rogers led the way in his TR3. He was followed by, Jags, Triumphs, MG’s, Sunbeam, and Healey. It was a great turnout, and worked out well since there had hardly been a weekend without rain. We took our time to enjoy the trees in bloom as well as some wild flowers along the way. We also stopped for a photo op., though I heard someone say it was to oil down the avenue where we parked.

As you know we have moved the Clovis British Car Roundup show to September – check this link for more details!
